The period when the Khmer Rouge ruled in Cambodia is considered the darkest era in the country. Many people suffered. There were mass killings, deportation, starvation and forced labour. Thousands people were forced to relocate to other rural areas and trains played a significant role in how those relocations were carried out. After a while Khmer Rouge recruited a technical team to fix the railroad and provided them food.
